A 3D foot scanner is a device that uses 3D scanning technology to obtain 3D data of the human foot shape and other related data in real time.

This device is commonly used in custom insole applications.

Its specific application process is as follows:

1. Collect 3D foot data through a 3D foot scanner.

The tester stands barefoot on the 3D foot scanner for measurement, obtaining 3D shape data of the feet.

These data include: foot length, foot width, foot height, arch height, plantar contour, 3D foot model, size differences between the left and right feet, and the shape characteristics of different areas of the feet.

2. Determine the shape characteristics of the feet through foot shape data and the 3D model.

After the test is completed, a detailed measurement report will be generated, and through the generated 3D model and measurement data, we can determine our foot shape characteristics.

For example, through data such as foot length and foot width, we can determine the basic dimensions of our two feet and the differences between the left and right feet.

4. Combine plantar pressure testing to perform personalized modeling.

To design an insole, in addition to foot shape data, plantar pressure data is also a very important step.

Through a plantar pressure plate, plantar pressure distribution data is obtained, and then the pressure data and 3D foot data are imported into the insole design software for personalized insole modeling.

The insole design process is: 3D foot scanning — obtaining a 3D foot model — foot shape data analysis — plantar pressure testing — obtaining plantar pressure data — data integration — performing insole CAD design and generating a personalized insole model — processing through CNC or 3D printing — finished insole — wearing experience (if discomfort is felt during wearing, further adjustments are required).
